Matthew 7:1-2
Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
A Roman soldier could compel any Jew to carry his gear one mile. Jesus said that His followers should go beyond what was required and carry the gear two miles! Imagine the surprise of the soldier who met someone who did more than was expected!
It is so easy to judge others, to form opinions without really knowing the circumstances. Remember the old proverb: “Don’t judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes (or moccasins).”
